February 13th, 2007 - UOIT Police Investigation

As you may already be aware, a police investigation into the creation
and sale of fraudulent identification involving a UOIT Business and
Information Technology student is underway.

In co-operation with Durham Regional Police Services (DPRS), UOIT is
asking students who may have purchased any form of illegal
identification to turn it in to DPRS to be destroyed. No charges will
be laid against students who purchased illegal identification and turn
it in to DPRS.

Any student with questions may contact Gary Pitcher, director of
Student Rights and Responsibilities at UOIT.

Any student with information about this investigation is asked to
contact Detective/Constable Katherine Denton or Detective John Van
Seter of the DPRS Fraud Unit at 905.579.1520 ext. 5281. Anonymous tips
can be made to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.TIPS (8477)
and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.

Hahaha. So I guess someone was getting some free rides on the bus. Not to sure what else a fake student id would do for ya. It doesn't have any birth date on it? I like how they said anyone who turns in an id will face no consequences. hahaha. Who in there right mind would return a fake id to the police if they didn't know they had it lol.

February 13th, 2007 - New Study Area

Got this email from the Student Association yesterday

Opens Monday February 12th, 2007

Located near Library; next to UL

This is an exciting time here within our campus community as we are now
ready to open new student space on our campus. The Student Association
Service Centre is located next to the UL portable and will house the
following:

- Student Association Meeting Room (coming soon)

- Four Club Offices (coming soon)

- 100 seat study area

- Women's Centre (coming soon)

- Food Bank (coming soon)

This space will be open Monday to Friday 9 am to 9 pm. Over the next
few weeks the space will be 100% operational as we will be slowly
opening services and adding great new features to the space such as
wireless Internet, printers, and a lounge for those students who enjoy
studying in comfort.

This brand new space is 100% student focused. Please direct all
inquires to the Student Association Office at (905) 721-0457 or
studentcentre@dc-uoit.ca.

So from the sounds of it... its a room with 100 chairs and tables, maybe some couches, no printer, and no wireless (not sure about wired) internet... seems like a pretty appealing place to go study... hmmm cause the library is not close by. I'm thinking we should get a McDonalds.

Feb 8th, 07 - Propoganda Entertainment @ E.P Taylors

Well I've been pretty weak with the posts as of late and can't really be blamed considering how the work has been piling on quite a bit. Starting midterm time but all the work that needs to be done for this week is finished so thats a bonus. Hannah is coming up to Oshawa for the weekend. As for UOIT news I will try to keep this updated with info that can't be found on say the school website etc... cause whats the point in getting that information here when its already there for ya.

UA Building - They are making slow progress of fixing the breaking glass problem the school seems to be having. Its been in repairs for about a month now and I'm guessing they have encountered more problems then they though their was.



Propoganda Entertainment presents St. Valentines Day Massacre at E.P Taylors this Friday night. All Ages and guests are allowed. Tickets are $5 in advance (tuck shop) or $9 at the door. 7:30PM - 1:00AM. You can check out Propaganda's Myspace profile here. Semester almost done

Well first semester of university is almost finished and as much as I have enjoyed it over the past months its going to be awesome back at home in Glengarry for the Christmas holidays. Only three more things to work on and i'll be done all the assignments and essays for this semester... then just have to worry about exams. My exams are pretty well spaced out so that will be helpful when it comes to studying for all of them. I've got one in all of my classes which is kinda a bummer but hey what can ya do.

Heading to hamilton next weekend to go visit Hannah, who I havn't seen in close to a month, pretty shitty. Can't wait for that!! Going down on thursday and coming back on the Sunday.

Off to the library to work on two programming assignments.

Midterms Done

Finished up the last of my midterms on Friday. Was glad it was my easiest class so I didn't have to worry about it all that much. Only ended up studying for about 30 minutes lol. Had a pretty good weekend on res. Chilled with Brian for most of the time.

Heading up to North Bay for the weekend to hang out with the boys. Alec and Brett are picking me up here in Oshawa at around 6:30 - 7:00 on Thursday night and we will probably chill here for about an hour or so. Brett is looking to go to Durham next year so I'll give him a little tour of the Campus and what not. We'll head out for North Bay around 8 and hopefully, if everything goes properly, we'll get there by 10:30 - 11:00. Mapquest says it takes 3:50 but I think we can do it a fair bit quicker.

Had a history presentation to do last night and it went pretty well. From all the other tutorial groups I have seen so far, ours had the most discussion from the rest of the class although we did have an easy topic to discuss, Chinese Immigration to Canada. For history I only have an essay to write and exam for the rest of the year so I have to do well on both of those.

First Post

Well I'm going to use this blog instead of Jeffeh.com to post about school and what not because for other people (non-uoit/durham students) its just not that interesting as they can't relate to it all that much. Subscribe to the blog and check back often.

Its 12:45am right now and I'm in the UA building working on business work and hitting up Youtube. Not to much going on and tired of being in boring ass res. Not to sure if anyone else who has gone through the whole res life but after a while of the same room, same people etc... its gets pretty damn annoying. Been spending alot more time out of my room, unlike some other people who I think will eventually just end up going crazy. Thats about it for now. Going to call it a night in 15 minutes and head back to the room. Class @ 9:40 in the wonderful tent so that should be nice and warm!
